First Night In Ueno, Tokyo ~Late Night Eats~

So we finally check into our hotel room around 7pm and we head up 5 floors. Thank god there is an elevator because being SUPER SILLY I brought enough clothes for a month =/ (I like options and choices)

We open the door and literally this is it. There is a bed a table and a tv on top of a little mini fridge. We were in cramped quarters and being claustrophobic did not help . ( at least I did not go for the CAPSULE hotel, you literally sleep in little pods)

The washroom off course had a bidet and the tub was quite deep though very short. Walking around in the washroom for Dustin meant hitting a toilet, a door or the tub.

After semi unpacking in the small quarters, we decided we needed a cold drink and a meal, upon heading downstairs into the lobby of our hotel in Ueno we found our very first BEER vending machine. Dustin went for the Sapporo. ~Thirst is Quenched~

We walked across the street and to the right into a little ally which had multiple stores on the left and right. We found a little gem which was still open in the late hours (9pm). you have to note that many things close down in Tokyo by 8 pm.

We went for a hot plate style meal
yeah to peanuts and crackers to start off your meal with your beer

had to go for the bibimbap

yum fresh scallops in butter sizzling away with fresh scallions
best meal ever and I loved how the flakes on top kept flapping away. This one didn't have the noodles underneath so we vowed that we would get it next time. It is kind of like a pancake but it is already pre-cooked by the chef, all you have to do it wait for it to get super crispy on your very own hot plate.
After the meal we saw another vending machine and I went for the SUPER SUPER large coke.

At that point food coma took over and we passed out -.-

Getting out of NRT to our Hotel in Ueno

Yeah we landed. Not much turbulence and pretty delish food has led to us being LESS grumpy then when we travelled 2 years ago to Beijing and Taiwan.

Off course I made Dustin pose with the Welcome to Narita sign.

I went to the washroom in NRT and saw one of these. Super interesting hahaha and off course the washroom was a bidet.

you know you are in Tokyo when you see middle age men in skin tight leather pants carrying multiple bags.
This is the view for us to pick up our bags and hand in our cards where you fill out what you brought and where you came from and the reason for your trip. I accidentally put it in 2000 thinking it meant CAD but it was yen. That is about 20 some dollars, I bet they had a good laugh.

I don't know why I did not take pictures of my SUICA card it had a cute penguin on it but that card is a MUST when travelling in Tokyo I would saw 3 + days. You pay a small deposit in which you can get back minus the handling charges when you return the card. IT is very similar to taiwan's YOYO card. We got our ticket on the Skyliner to get to UENO since the JR does not reach that particular spot we are trying to get to.

Our skyliner went quite fast but I was trying to take pictures showing the sun set quite early in Tokyo at this time it was around 5:50pm
I found a vending machine car and got some liquid for our dehydration. (note on the plane I drank equivalent of 10 cups of water and did a face mask and use hydration lotion... it is very dry on the airplane)
Yeah yummy drinks and enough vitamin C for a few days =)

Night lights on the cabbie after we got of at UENO station. We had a few luggages so took a cab instead. Dustin forgot that they drive on the Right SIDE and opened the drivers door.. THAT GOT A FEW LAUGHS.
Our small but adequate hotel room. Bed is double or full at best and the room was big enough for the bed the room and the luggages we brought.
our small washroom turning room only but YEAH BIDET and  deep tub.
Our beer vending machine in the lobby.

YEAH we made it...

And I am Back ... why it sucks to come back from vacation

So it has been a while since I blogged about food... about life... about anything.

Reason being is when you are travelling and putting in site after site everyday you really don't have time and the I got back and I had jet lag and what I call "heart-broked-ness".

Unlike Dustin, I really despised coming back to this dismal city. I am not gonna lie I cried. I did't want to come back at all but off course WE ALL HAVE TO COME BACK TO REALITY.

So Starting today I will begin my blogging on my adventures in ASIA land.

In addition, a change of plans no more vegas trip since I am planning to buy a car.
