How you get JIPPED on V-Day

So I told my boyfriend that I didn't need roses I mean we were both working that day and we had pre-celebrated @ nomniya the day before. I worked till 8 and he said he was pulling overtime till 9 pm. I called him around 8:30 and he even lied saying he hadn't left work yet. (he really sucks at lying) so when he came home and had flowers, chocolates and a card in hand I was QUITE moved.

MULTI colored roses from BUNCHES and a cute card
YEAH lil mini hedgehogs that melt in your mouth from PURDY'S

So obviously you probably noticed the the rose safe all different colours and YES there are only 8 . Why? first of all I love the number 8, its the second best number from 13. (long story short his number is 5 mine is 13 and 8 happens to be our lucky number....) Also, each rose cost 7 dollars! The chocolates were also ridiculously priced for the amount you got in (GRAMS). So what have I learned, V-day is a day for suckers and romantics who are willing to pay ridiculously amounts for things that die within 7 days and can be consumed in seconds.

I don't know if you can see but I didn't have a vase so I utilized a stainless steel thermos instead.

I am also super proud of him for picking out this card. He never thought cards were important so I never got any. Also this card actually has a meaningful message b/w not just another generic sappy love line.

IN addition we went to FAMOSO and DUCHESS on Friday.
YEah weeklong celebration NAH credit card bill =/

What will you do on the day of hearts? ♥ ❤ ❥

Valentines day is fast approaching and this year I am really not looking forward to it. I am not cynical or hate on couples but rather its because I have 3 midterms (BACK TO BACK) that day then I have to go to work. This valentines day will be a day from hell and I will probably come home and pass out. YES tres romantic...

As I was making decoration for valentines at work I heard a co-worker say that hearts are actually made in response to the shape of a BUM. ew??? apparently it looks like the top of the butt. Butt and Butt cracks are not appealing nor are they romantic in any way... well to me at least.

This year I bought two types of Hello Kitty Valentines Cards from superstore and they were ... SUPER cheap . (32 + 27 = 59) man do I know that many people that I want to give out valentines to? then I realized when am I going to have the time to write people's name on it and do I have to include KISSES? (hershy kisses) I should probably be cramming hard core right now for my 3 midterms and yet here I am blogging.

Asking my friends and co-workers about their plans I found out that my Valentines day is probably the worst. One might get proposed to, one is going out to dinner, another is attempting to go to banff. Maybe by a miracle my manager will actually give me valentines day off so I don't have to work . In that case I am going to attempt a 5 course meal. I plan to make a few appetizers or just buy them from M&M Meat Shops.

So what is valentines day?
According to Wiki it is :

associated with Saint Valentine was that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire

I think I rather believe in the Roman version of Valentines day with psyche and cupid.
A think a cute fat cherub with shooting arrows and wearing next to nothing is more exciting than the real origins of Valentines day.
* note : do not google fat cupid... the images you get will make you poke your eye out*
on a side note I might go and watch safe haven on (Matinée Tuesday) it is from the producers of the Notebook. I don't cry often but when I watched the notebook times 1. 2. and 3 I did cry. Its probably one of those sensational chick flicks that no guy will willingly want to partake in.

Cha cha ching New Years

So today is Chinese New Years Day and I headed to my mom's for a festive celebration. Before I went I decided that its a new year and I needed a new hair colour. Before I had stripped my hair with bleach (before xmas) and dyed it a vibrant red. However, with every wash the shinny ness slowly seeped away and I knew it was time to go BRUNETTE! Blondes don't always have all the fun.

This is when I had red hair but it was not super vibrant at this point and as you can see my black roots were starting to really show:

These are also my two dogs (oreo and kiko) They are adorable YET terrible at the same time.

So I went to buy a dye. I found this one for super cheap it was on sale and being an Asian I love sales. I have never had brown hair or any shade of brown so it was gonna be a hit or miss. The lady on the box looked a bit scary.
I use this brand because I like how shiny my hair looks after the dye and how it can retain the colour much better than other dyes. It is also not the most expensive dye and I don't feel bad when I buy it. Off course doing it yourself is much much much cheaper than going to a salon. I once paid close to 300 dollars for bang trim, adding layers putting in a colour and 4 streaks. The colour of the streaks were purple and faded within the week. WASTE.

After I dyed my hair I got into my super asian but only shirt I had that had red outfit:
Yes it is a hello kitty taking a picture and I paired it up with red pumps. Hope that was RED enough for CNY. Dinner was with some neighbours and my family and there was plenty of dishes:

The shot of these prawns still make my mouth water. They were quite succulent.
Here are some of the other dishes that we had. One included a duck my dad smoked himself. There was also the triple fat pork that I didn't get a really good shot of but it was divine and probably going to cost me later tonight.
We also had spicy sausages which I don't think was very traditional but they were just as juicy and had a really good kick. I think my parents got them from COSTCO.
And this huge pot of soup was good too not super salty and still tasted fresh. There was daikon and meat balls which both had good meanings in CNY I think ....
Here is my brother and father figuring out something with the camera. Alas these pictures were taken by me but on my brothers camera. His is also CANON but cost 3x the amount of mine.

Here is a shot of the people who came and laughing, I think I caught uncle walter in a mid stare or something.

Off course I have work tomorrow so I chose the non alcoholic bubbly drinks. and i walked around the house in my very red DOMO slippers.

and off course I had to say all the right things to get my hello kitty red pocket. YEAAAH MONIES!!!

All in all a good CNY and now I super full and sleepy. ZZzzzzzzZZzz
