Cory Cory Cory.... Tabloids of his face everywhere

I remember I was working when I first glanced up at the big screen tv with huge captions and Cory Monteith's face glaring across the screen. The words were saying that Cory had been found dead in Vancouver and TOX screens were being done.

Number one feeling, yikes isn't he in high school. 

Number two feeling, woah where is Lea

Number three feeling, damn it, he is Canadian isn't it. 

So you google him to get his life storey because people are morbidly interested and entertained by all comings and goings in this case.... of celebrities and celebrity life.  (yours truly included) 

I think this is one of his more up to date pictures right before his untimely end. 

I use to watch glee and I do watch it now and then. Sometimes the singing is too much for me and I just can't handle it. Cory was tubbsier in Glee but I guess after his rehab stint he lost quite a bit of weight and looks chiseled. I just feel wrong at this point thinking that he looks sexy... He is dead.... 

So back to my initial reactions, after he lost all that weight he no longer looked like he belonged in high school. Number two  you would think these two would be joined at the hip. I think I would if I found out my boyfriend was addicted.... Cory went partying with his old friends whom he probably did drugs with... or were part of his drug addicted past.... Or maybe I am just super UP IN YOUR FACE.

Number three he is Canadian... What does this mean. I feel like his actions may have tarnished the "canadian" name.... Man, what am I even thinking, what CANADIAN NAME.  After searching online  a blogger/ newspaper reporter claim that because Cory was in Van it increased his chances of ODing.

Then as an after thought... What will happen to Glee? How will they kill off his character?  The same thing happened in the movie where Keith Ledger was replaced him by several male characters including johnny depp throughout the movie. 

To be dead by 31, that is a daunting thought. (knocks on wood) I hope I and no one I personally know will have to go through what death means. WOW this entry is getting a little too deep ... there goes my superficial views...

Death really blows because after the person is gone his/ her pain is gone but those they left behind its pain every day and really the pain doesn't go away. It may dull for a bit and may go into "remission" for a bit but its always there.  

So despite my obsession.. just let the guy REST IN PEACE ALREADY .... 

Cyber Warfare: N Korea

With recent news on Visa network problems and other online malicious malware that has plagued our online network and identity I read about South Korea's cyber attack last week.

 In the 21st Century alot of what we do it ONLINE, we bank online, we chat online we trust the computer and the securities in place. WE blog and share information online and put pictures of ourselves. We shop online and buy stocks and trade. So when there is a cyber attack, I feel as if my hard earned identity, money and status can be easily taken away .... LIKE THAT *snaps fingers*

There is strong implications that the cyber attack in S Korea was instigated by a  team of "cyber warriors" from N Korea. Scary thoughts..... To be honest when I think of N Korea I just think of Kim Kong Il a scary and short dictator.

I also think of poverty and third world country conditions. Like the article I find it silly almost that North Korea could be capable of launching an attack of that scale ONLINE. N Korea is very impoverished and has limited outside contact with the world. Their average income is $1,190 on average versus S Korea which is $22, 000 average a year.

However, as the article goes on to explain NORTH KOREA is putting an emphasis on IT, with a supposed 3000 hackers. The article says they are sending malware to USA and S Korea so I guess Canada might be safe from N Korean attacks.

Be proud a Canadian is on the ISS

Be proud to be Canadian.

Chris Hadfield takes command of the International Space Station same day the new pope got elected. (March 13, 2013) Kevin Ford passed his responsibly to Hadfield in a transfer of command ceremony.

Our new commander of the ISS is said to be an outgoing person, a people person and has a vision for the ISS. Even the Queen herself congratulated him on him entering this position. He is also the first Canadian to walk in space and hails from Ontario. This also marks a day of first like the election of the new pope (Pope Francis), Hadfield be came the first canadian to command the ISS Expedition 35.

Way to REPRESENT!!!

At age 53 he is still living his dream and orbiting the earth! He came from pretty humble beginnings and was in Royal Canadian Air Cadets. He went from there into Canadian Forces and even got a bachelors in mechanical engineering. He was also the director of operations for NASA in Russia.

Habemus Papam

For those of you who can't read Latin, Habemus Papam mean: We have a Pope. Yesterday whilst I was slaving away on my stair master one of the TVs at GoodLife caught my attention. CNN LIVE was broadcasting the exact moment of the inauguration of a new pope. Am I catholic? Nope but it is still world news and to be knowledge of current events can never be a bad thing...

Those who get elected are usually the more talked about and top contenders. 2013 Papal election saw a few contenders that were FAVORITES (taken from Our Sunday Visitor) According to the website:
       
"Three most prominent were Cardinals: Angelo Scola, Marc Ouellet and Angelo
Bagnasco." ~ Feb 13

now at this point pope francis was not even on the list....


So when he came emerging out after the white smoke (well it took longer than usual since he added a personal prayer alone in the chapel) I WANTED to know who he was.
According to CTV NEWS : An Argentinian cardinal who rejected the comforts of his position and rode the bus to work has become the newest leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now Pope Francis, is known for his modesty and his compassion for the poor. Many credit him with modernizing the church in Argentina, even though he holds orthodox views on modern-day issues like same-sex marriage and contraception.

He chose the name Pope Francis which is a name that hasn't been used before. He was therefore the first pope other than Pope Lando to choose an entirely new name.  Another big shock is that he became the first non-european pope. He is from Argentina and is the first south american pope. In addition he is the first Jesuit Pope. (READ MORE on the Economist)

As I was sweating to death I was trying to read the little blurbs that flash underneath the actual live taping. one caught my eye: it was an account of a civilian that wish the new pope would help ignite his faith again in the church. 

What does this all mean to me? 

Well it was interesting to say the least. 

This whole thing reminded me of a more dramatic and fiction version seen in the movie: Angels and Demons with Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor. 

Off course this 2013 papal conclave and then election of a new pope doesn't have as many twist and turns and hidden plots but it is still good to know and interesting. BUT WHAT IS THE BIG woah about this election of 2013? The fact that Pope Francis predecessor Pope Benedict XVI became the first pope in 600 years to resign. BBC quoted the ex-pope will now become a simple pilgrim after 8 years in office. 

lets see what the new pope will do with his time in office.....
