Throw back Thursday: Mix it Up Manicure

I didn't get to post my manicure monday photo so I decided to do it now. It really has been awhile since I posted since I had finals and when I have to study I am not motivated to do much else. In fact, this is the last sem of my undergrad so I wasn't motivated to study much either.

So I was trying to use my nail stickers (cheetah print) I have never used it before so I messed up and somehow they got stuck to each other. I was only able to salvage 4 prints from the whole lot of 12.

I then decided to spice it up by adding different colors. I went for a color that POPPED (bright pinkish red) and a darker colour a slated grey. The nail polish was from JULEP and the sticker was a VIVI brand that I got from one of my many ebay purchases a while back. (stopped ebaying since it took forever to get here and since Im going to ASIA LAND IN 12 days I decided I could wait)

Also while you do your nails its nice to have few drinks of the bubbly. (unless you are a cheap drunk like me)

THIS IS THE FINAL LOOK.
Obviously I lack the skills to do my own nails but HEY from far ish away they look lovely and really who is really really staring at your hands non-stop.... (probably me...)
yeah i need to clean this nail up around the ages... painted over the line
I kinda really enjoy this look its FIERCE in its own right but still girly with that pop of dark redish pink.
OH i also found this little gem at super store. Its so cute I probably won't even want to open it (I WILL SOON PUT UP A BLOG POST ON WHAT IM BRINGING AS NECESSITIES TO ASIA-LAND)

I leave you with this picture.... this is what happens when you are not studying really hard. (needed my charger so dustin plugged it in and OREO climbed on) =P

Manicure Monday: Feeling Purple with Taylor and Trina

Obviously my favorite color is shades of purple. I recently found two shades that I particularly love. (Taylor is the lighter purple and the darker is Trina) The lighter purple is great and adds a POP of color with my otherwise darker ensemble. However, I have been trying to bring out my spring clothes despite the horrible weather. I paired this light purple with a dress I bought from H and M which has flowers all over it. This lighter purple reminds me of the upcoming holiday: EASTER. Using Julep nail polishes seems to be what I have been doing for the last few Manicure Mondays. I believe, I use these colors not only because I get 2 to 4 new ones every month but also I love their color scheme, the ease of putting the nail polish on and how they are long lasting and made in USA.

The darker purple is how I am feeling now. It actually has sparkles included in it to give it a glimmer in the light. Though its spring and there are only about 36 days left before my BIG TRAVELS I am still stuck in dreary Edmonton facing essays and final exams. This darker purple reflects my mood and my mood to come. It is good with most of my darker clothing however, it does bring out the redness in my fingers. (My finger tips are often red and swollen since I have sensitive skin and I am prone to bleeding all the time)

Manicure Monday: Neon Colors in time for Spring

Its almost spring time. Several days ago the weather became so warm that the snow melted and everything was puddles (poor uggs) So just in time for spring (spring equinox is march 20) I got some new colours form my julep mapen box.

These are the three colours I got in my march julep box.  I chose a different profile and got three nail polishes instead of 2 nail polishes and one full size julep product.

Here is the turnout (please dismiss the fact my nails are nasty and my cuticle are dying, the winter does me a number)
Pinks and orange neons are flirty, fun and great to spice up your daily wardrobe esp if you enjoy wearing dark colours.

These colours brought me out of my winter blues.

Manicure Monday: Tickle Me Pink (Julep + Zoya)

So a joint effort was made by Julep and Zoya to create this "Tickle Me Pink" look for your nails. Off course my nails are super ugly right now ... not only am I biter but winter is really rough for my hands. In the winter I tend to bleed a lot and chaff also I am still recovering from a BOTCHED acrylic with gel overlay procedure by Studio Nails in Southgate Mall. (Another Entry on this MISHAP later)

so this is a no flash snapshot of the nail colour using the two types of nail polish. Julep one is a darker more robust pink called "Nicey" and Zoya is a softer hue, more girly called" Shelby". I have a small pedastool with poka dots I use as my sit on the group manicure table as to not drip onto the carpet, floor and other objects etc. I got this thing at IKEA, quite useful esp when I can't really reach the top shelf of my nail polishes. (refer to this blog entry for a look: fashion sense page )

Those are three shots using flash of the nails and how they look out of the bottle. Sometimes nail polishes looks quite different in the bottle versus on your nails.

I think this look is perfect for those who love pink. Or even for those wanting to be a bit girly. The use of both colours makes it FRESHER and gives it a bit of edge. I suppose when my nails grow longer I will revisit this look and put other colours or designs. But I am a simplist and enjoy looks like these.

What I noticed from the two different types of nail polishes is that Julep is quite thick and one application sometimes is enough to get that nice coated look on your nails. Zoya is not as thick and may require a few more swipes. Both have great colour and dry relatively fast. (I use Julep's quick dry drops) Despite the size difference Zoya actually has more ml n the bottle. 15 versus 8 ml. So bottle size can be a bit deceiving.

I got both in BEAUTY BOXES so I do not really know how much I would be willing to pay for it if I saw it at the stores. I know that SEPHORA carries JULEP in their stores though their selection is limited compared to the BEAUTY BOX and online selection.

I do enjoy that ZOYA has a disclaimer on the back of their bottle saying that their nail polish is "formaldehyde and etc FREE" which is great. My nails are already weak and brittle. Julep's contents are smaller and on a tiny round sticker at the bottom of the bottle. I would put my glasses on and read it but I am too lazy... maybe another time.

I believe that the quality of these two nail polishes are awesome in and I dare say eve better than OPI which was the craze .. I EMPHASIZE on was.

For those interested in JULEP subscriptions click this button  below: (or this is my manual code :2860858)

I have put both buttons here since I switch between the two profiles
